Lumbung Padi is a real rice barn, rebuilt plank by plank by a carpenter from the next village. Downstairs is an open bale for reading and long breakfasts; up a teak ladder, a loft bed sits under the curve of the alang-alang roof.

It is our smallest house and our most requested. Two people, one view, and the sound of water running through the terraces all night.

“The roof is the room.”
